Alcoholism and drug addiction are medical diseases, not moral failures. Most who struggle with addiction have tried to gain control over their behavior or simply stop using many times. Medications can be part of the answer for some. While they do not take away the problem, they can reduce the cravings, giving treatment a better chance to work. For individuals requesting medication assisted treatment, the agency’s Medical Director prescribes medication as part of a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach that will be used in conjunction with other recommended treatment/therapies. Engagement in outpatient D/A treatment services is required in order to receive MAT.
